NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
