Web High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

[ English ]

Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve last table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best enthusiasts around the world. While playing internet poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to play at the table with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amount. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world at times. The best poker players in the world may be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be found gambling on net poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in cash rounds?
