Focus on Annie Duke

Annie Duke may not have captured her 1st WSOP Bracelet until ‘04 but she is still one of the most feared poker players around the cash games at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s longawaited World Series of Poker bracelet came with success at the "buried game" of Omaha hi lo.

While players from the "younger crowd" of poker go wild following a large win at the tournament, Annie heads back home to be "mom" to her four children. Annie was born in New Hampshire and raised into a family of poker players. If you do not accept that, check out her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who taught her how to compete in the game.

However, Annie Duke is no small-potatoes girl and has captured her share of challenging tables, which includes eliminating Howard along the way on several occasions. They are both competitors that have the capability to acquire the big money and do so with a smile.

Mrs. Duke is a tough player at any poker table because she is a real poker player, but it is a bit more than just being strong at the game. Mrs. Duke is very smart and graduated from Columbia University where she majored in Psychology and English.

When you are seated across from her at the poker table you know Annie Duke is there to compete in the game and she begins "summing" you up as soon as you approach the poker table. If you can not bet like a Champion, then do not bother.

Acquiring over $3 million in tournament play, Annie Duke became a consultant to both UltimateBet.com and actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to hone his techniques and become a force at the poker table.

You might just glimpse her at the Bellagio, you will observe her on the television and you may even play against her in a web-based poker match, but don’t count on an easy win. Unless you’re a camp-in-the-making, you won’t beat her. However, it’d be exciting to say you sat at the same table as "The Duke".
