No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn everything he could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the negative comments from others destroy his dream of being one of the best poker players in the world.

He began competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
