Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the closing table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world. While participating in web poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He often participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I accept that Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is penniless, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the min takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world at times. The best poker players in the world might be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be seen wagering on net poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in high stakes omaha high and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in money games?
